The Town of Babylon is located along the southwest region of Suffolk County. Town of Babylon's hamlets and incorporated villages include Amityville Village, Babylon Village, Copaigue, Deer Park, Gilgo, Oak Beach & Captree, East Farmingdale, Lindenhurst Village, North Amityville, North Baylon, North Lindenhurst, West Babylon, Wheatley Heights & Wyandanch. Important locations along the Route 110 Corridor include Farmingdale State University of New York, Broadhollow Bioscience Center, Republic Airport and Brunswick Hospital.


According to the 2000 United States Census findings:

  • The town's total population is 211,792 with an average of 3.03 persons living in 69,048 households. Babylon is the most densely populated town in Suffolk County, with 3,996 people per square mile and 53 square miles of land.
  • The median family income is $66,261, although 4.6 percent of Babylon residents live below the poverty line. Almost thirty-seven percent of the town households have an annual income of $75,000 or more.
